In addition to our regular array of courses during the academic year and summer, MMW offers the following in 2026-27:
- MMW 13 COIL Taiwan: Spring 2027. This MMW13 Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) course is taught in partnership with National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, Taiwan. ERC students take an in-person MMW13 COIL course at UCSD in spring term, while working remotely and collaboratively with students in Taiwan on a joint project. Applications due early Winter term. This program is capped at 22 students.
- MMW Taiwan: Summer 2027. This two-week immersive program in Taipei fulfills MMW15 or MMW122 requirements, and is offered in partnership with National Taiwan Normal University. Applications open in later fall term. Note: This is a low enrollment and intensive program.
- MMW Pluralism and Community: MMW14/122 in Winter 2027. Pluralism and Community is a seminar on how individuals and communities can thrive amid differences. The course examines religious pluralism alongside ideological and viewpoint diversity, studying cases in which pluralism has succeeded and considering, when it failed, what went wrong. The course pairs foundational and contemporary texts on the topic with structured dialogue exercises across lines of difference, and requires the development of a student pluralism project. Note: This is a low enrollment course. Apply by Nov. 1.
- MMW Global Seminars: Summer 2027. MMW Global Seminars are five-week, two-course faculty-led programs abroad in summer term. MMW will offer Global Seminars in Tokyo and Berlin in Summer 2027. Each program is capped at 28 students.
- MMW California Seminar: Summer 2026. To complement our MMW Global Seminars, MMW also offers this domestic program in the mountains of California at Yosemite National Park and the San Jacinto Mountains. The program combines MMW15 with a two-week experiential program in summer. The MMW California Seminar fulfills the MMW15 and UCSD climate change requirements, and also the MMW122 requirement for transfer students. Applications due in Winter term.
