MMW121 is the first course in Eleanor Roosevelt College’s two-course graduation requirement sequence for transfer students. This course offers an inquiry on wisdom traditions that emerged and developed in antiquity and the pre-modern world. This examination focuses on their instruction on how best to live, their guidance on one’s obligations and relationship to others and ideals for participation in community, and their portrait of the human-environmental connection. In short, this course is a comparative inquiry into the “examined life.” MMW121 also strengthens university-level analysis, research, and writing skills through its course assignments.
CLAS121R Wisdom Traditions is open to all students at UC San Diego and to all students at other UC campuses through cross-campus enrollment.
