MMW 13 A Globalizing World: Exchanges, Entanglements, and Exploitation, 13th-18th Century (6 credits)
MMW 13 presents a global perspective on the connections, exchanges, and transformations that linked Afro-Eurasia and the Americas during the period from 1200 to 1750 CE. The course examines the nature and consequences of this increasingly connected world. MMW13 is the second of two writing-intensive courses in the MMW sequence.
This course will be taught in Spring 2026. Unlike the other lecture tracks of MMW13 in Spring 2026, this course has very limited enrollment. It will be taught in partnership with faculty from two universities in Taiwan and UCSD students will complete group projects by working collaboratively with Taiwanese students. To be part of this MMW13 course, you must apply. For details, please inquire with Prof. Herbst.
