MMW Serves is a service experience embedded within the Making of the Modern World general education world history program, combining academic preparation with experiential activity. A specially-designed MMW course on Mondays, 3-6pm in winter term, fulfilling MMW14 or MMW122 requirements, provides the academic preparation. After completion of the 4-credit MMW course in winter, students travel to Bahia de Los Angeles in Baja, Mexico with UCSD Outback Adventures for Spring Break for environmental service and an intensive outdoor experience, while learning about this region’s unique environment and ecology and having fun!
Cost: $450. There is a non-refundable $225 deposit due by Nov. 30 The second non-refundable payment ($225) will be due by Feb. 1. This covers transportation from UCSD to Baja, Mexico, food, equipment, and all outdoor activities.
Preparation: Participation requires successful completion of a special 4-unit MMW14/122 course on Mondays 3-6pm in winter term. Pre-Requisites: MMW12 and 13 or MMW121. Program length: Sunday – Sunday of Spring Break.
